About Porto

Porto is the capital of the Northern region of Portugal and the second largest city of the country. The city is located along the hills near the estuary of the Douro Rover.

Although Porto has semi Mediterranean climate, but the effect of the Atlantic Ocean keeps the temperature cooler. Still, the temperature in mid-summer (around August) can reach as high as 40 degrees centigrade. The winters remain mild but sometimes the nights can be extremely cold with temperature falling to 0 degrees.

Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport handles flights to the city. This airport lies just 15 km from the city centre. It is the third busiest airport in the country. The metro connects the airport to the city centre from where you can get around the Porto city via car, bus, taxi, or metro itself. Boat and Helicopter also can be hired to move around. Both of these transport modes offer extremely beautiful views of the city. Aside from plane, you can also reach Porto from the neighboring regions via train, car, bus and boat.

The list of places worth visiting in Porto is really long. The locations near the river mouth are brimming with natural beauty and look awe inspiring. The city centre and Western part of the city are exceptionally appealing and fun to visit. Porto does not only have excellence in natural beauty but also has superior architectural brilliance.

The parks and gardens of the city are unusually gorgeous. A walk in the parks or gardens is enough to wash off all your worries and troubles. The stress flies off your shoulders and you get a refreshing feeling seeping inside of you. The modern buildings of Porto are a piece of art and distinction. The structure looks extraordinarily stunning and catches the eye at the first glance.

Dining: The restaurants of Porto are considered as one of the finest in the whole country. The price on food is also not so high. Matosinhos is the place where the best restaurants of the city are present.
