About Brisbane

Situated on the banks of a river by the same name, Brisbane is a big city and the capital of Queensland in Australia. Like all other major cities of Australia, Brisbane also boasts of a perfect seaside location complete with the touristy subtropical beach setting. The derelict yet amazing beaches are in deep contrast with the bustling city life.

All the states of Australia have remarkable capitals. The same goes with the capital of the Queensland- Brisbane. It is yet another spectacular city of Australia which offers a great holiday experience.

Marked as the third largest city of Australia, Brisbane has what you would seek from a coastal city. It has hosted a lot of international events and programs which prove its international recognition and importance.

The view of Brisbane as seen from Kangaroo point is one of the most desirable sceneries in the world. You might find the picture as wallpaper on a number of computers. The tall buildings right behind the blue waters seem painted in the same blue. The cloud laden sky and the lush vegetation near bank compliment the view even further. The scene is just the right proportion of nature and human architecture.

The CBD or The City is the heart of Brisbane. It holds a vast number of cinemas, shopping malls, parks, and restaurants. It is not only the centre for the commercial activities but it also has a lot of tourist attractions. If you ever happen to visit Brisbane and come to the CBD then do not forget to pay a visit to the Queen Street Mall - the heart of the state’s shopping spree.

South Bank is known as the centre for the cultural precinct. The fine arts theatres, Queensland museum, Queensland art gallery, the State Library and the GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art) all found here. You can also find eye catching restaurants and cafes at spectacular locations.

While West End showcases the artsy shops and book stores, New Farm is known to have the most amazing dining places.

Hamilton has the trendy fashion stores of the state. It is also home to the Race course Road. The boulevard of Hamilton is a delight to the eyes. During the months of December, the red flowers make the place a fantasy land.

Being a coastal city, the humidity in Brisbane stays high in summer. The temperature lies between 35 to 20 degrees centigrade. It is recommended to wear light weight clothing.

The Brisbane International Airport lies 20 km away from the City Centre so it is no hard work for the international travelers to reach here. Trains, buses, boats and cars also lead you to the city. Moving in the city can be real fun if you rent a bicycle. You also have the option to go for the car rental or taking a ride in the green cab. Ferrys, buses, taxis and rented motor bikes also move the traffic inside the city.

There are a lot of places to see and a lot of activities to do in this spectacular city. From museums and art galleries to zoo and harbor, Brisbane has all of it.

A sense of sophistication resonates in the city with chic art galleries and rooftop bars and restaurants. Brisbane is constantly evolving into a modern hub of tourism and the increasing number of tourists in the region speaks volumes about that effort and appeal of Brisbane's charm. There are plenty of activities to choose from and indulge in. An array of aquatic creatures like turtles, whales, dolphins and sharks can be often spotted in Moreton Bay area on the eastern fringe of the city. Snorkeling, Surfing and sand boarding are some other fun filled adventures to be a part of when in Brisbane.

Although a naturally laid back city, it is full of adventure activities. One can also go for walks or rides through the nearby National Parks. Closer to the centre of the city and hustle bustle of city life, the less adventurous folks can go around the many art galleries, the city botanical gardens or have a look at the market scene in the South Bank area. The nightlife scene comes to play as the sun sets down and Brisbane doesn't disappoint. The fun loving nature of the locals make it a good experience.

Local Culture - Brisbane is high on culture and the Culture Precinct attests to that, offering an array of broadway shoes, art galleries and museums. The culture of the city dwells in performing arts, music and sports. It is nothing different from the culture of the rest of the country.

Dining - The food culture in Brisbane is quite a handfull or more appropriately, quite a mouthful. From seafood to Australian specialities like duck and Kangaroo meat, one comes across Asian as well as European influence in the gastronomy department of Brisbane. There is no limit to the number of restaurants and eateries in Brisbane. You can have your meal at any hour at any place. The Steak, and the Vegetarian Meze Platter are some of the famous dishes of the Brisbane.

Things To Keep In Mind - Beware of sharks and jellyfish while at the beach. Always look around for sign boards. Brisbane is more safe and sound than its counterpart capitals. Queensland is known have strict laws. But it does not mean that crime rate is nonexistent. Do not go alone at night if you do not want to get harassed or robbed.
