If you want to spend less and travel the most when you're at the right place. There are few tips which might help you stick to your budget and not compromise on your best moments.
Traveling Europe cheap
Transportation around most European cities by subway or bus is very cheap and comes under 2 EUR for a one-way ticket. Intercity train prices are different in every country and depend upon whether you take a high-speed or a slow train. Buses are cheaper than trains so you can always ride the bus. The main bus service is called Eurolines and it reaches throughout the continent, Eurolines is no doubt a great option. In the east, the major international bus company is Ecolines, which basically serves central Europe. Flixbus is another budget-friendly option which is comfortable and you get to enjoy the scenic beauty of Europe. They come with wi-fi (which is okayish), electrical outlets, and enough beautiful sites for overnight and long-haul bus journeys. They are one of the best and newest ways to get around the continent. Hitchhiking is also a popular style nowadays of traveling in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. You can also use Uber which is available in every county throughout Europe.
Travel Pass- You can always go for travel passes too which are indeed money saver and very efficient. Eurail Passes are easy to get and helps you to save your cost while traveling to Europe. If you are traveling far distances and through many countries, they are a great deal.
Share a Ride- If you don't have a strict schedule, you can also use the ridesharing service BlaBlaCar and can catch rides with locals between cities (or countries). It's less expensive and you also get to meet interesting people and learn about their rich culture and life.
Tourist Cards - You can always go for a tourist card which every local tourism office issues. It offers you plenty of attractions, tours, and restaurants of a city. This card gives you free entry and really great discounts on all the attractions and tours, free local public transportation, and discounts at a few restaurants and shopping malls. If you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing then this card will be one of your best decisions to save a lot of money.
Staying in Europe
Since Europe hosts millions of tourists every year, it offers many services to all types of travelers, making they stay a lot more efficient and pocket-friendly too.
Hotel Reward Points- Hotel reward points are truly a lifesaver in an expensive trip for sure. When you cannot find any local houses for staying, you can look for these rewards. Search a few hotel points before going there and burn them while you stay in the country.
Look for Accommodation & Couchsurf- If you opt for staying outside the city, you can get accommodation on many things and it also costs you less. Couchsurfing is a new trend in Europe. It's literally free and you can stay at a local's house, cook with them, and do anything as a token of thank you. You can also camp at various campsites to save money.
Pay attention to extra fees- While comparing the hotel price, you should keep in mind every aspect so that you don't end up paying more. On Airbnb, for instance, a place listed at $85 per night might actually cost you more than $100 after cleaning and booking fees. With hotels, there's sometimes a city tax so don't forget to take account of all of this when comparing prices.
Airbnb- "It allows people to rent apartments, homes or rooms from local people". This service really saves up much of your cost and is a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel, and is the best option for those people who are looking for a more comfortable and homely experience. You can easily find a suitable apartment for rent by narrowing your search. Just select our budget, amenities, and location.
Food for a Thought
Finding places to eat within your budget is not a difficult task. Throughout Western Europe, you can find plenty of small shops where you can get delicious sandwiches, slices of pizza price ranging between 4-7 EUR. These shops save your cost of eating out daily so that you can spend that saved up money somewhere else. Restaurant meals usually cost around 13-25 EUR for a main dish and drink. Food is much cheaper in Eastern Europe than the western. You still spend around 9 EUR even if you eat outside daily. A very great way to save more money is cooking your own meal. You can buy food products from cheap supermarkets and can cook on alternative days. Buy some food, eat outside, and experience the quiet city life. It is cheap and much more memorable.
