The holy month of Ramadan has already started. As one of the five pillars of Islam, fasting is obligatory for all healthy Muslims as a test of their patience and endurance while refraining from eating,drinking and any sexual activities.

During Ramadan after fasting for more than fifteen hours long the craving for the yummiest food is almost irresistible. The evening meal is referred to as Iftari and to answer your cravings, we have compiled a list of the places for you to eat when in Mumbai.

This place needs no introduction and is well featured for its lip smacking Mughlai food collection. It's often visited by foodies including tabla maestro Zakir Hussain. One of their most special dishes is Sanju baba chicken. The dish is named after the Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt,a regular customer of this place who gifted this recipe to this hotel. The ambience is good and service is really fast and energetic. So you can hope for a quick delightful serving your craving hungry stomach after fasting.

Sarvi is a legendary restaurant of "BOMBAY" situated at the heart of Nagpada junction 'this restaurant offers an old charm depicting the Mumbai's old style as the tables and chairs depict the old Iranian setup. Their chicken Afghani,caramel custard and kebabs are unbeatable in the city. The taste ensures a heavenly sleep post dinner. The ambience and seating offered is up to the mark and they also provide a special air conditioned zone for families thus a perfect destination to have the meal while Ramadan.

This restaurant is known for it's North Indian food along with a view of the racecourse. It is featured in Sunday brunches and kebab places. It certainly has the best Galouti kebabs in the city which are absolutely spectacular,melt in the mouth delicacy. Their service is an epitome however the place is slightly steep in the pocket but while feasting post fasting, it's worth spending the money on.

Though it is a small, takeaway outlet at the Bhendi bazar but undoubtedly it is one of the most famous when it comes to the drinks. It is a ninety-year-old stall which sells milk based juices in fruity flavours that give your taste buds a heavenly rich feel. This is especially a favourite for those possessing a higher inclination towards the sweeter section during the fasting period.

This place deals in pure North Indian Mughlai food. As per people's review-"you,re not a true foodie in Mumbai if you have not visited this place." They serve a sumptuous yet unique meal.Amongst the various dishes they have on their list, Nalli nehari is the most famous which is basically a preparation of mutton leg pieces cooked with dal. The place has a mediocre seating capacity. During Ramadan,tables are laid out on the streets to accommodate the patrons.

As the name suggests, Persian Darbar is renowned for it's Mughlai delicacies along with authentic Arabic food. They offer a versatile menu with a huge variety of starters, main course, beverages and desserts. During Ramadan, the place is full and offers Iftar delicacies like tikkas, tawa kebabs, biryanis and more. To indulge one's sweet tooth there is a small area at the entrance which sells barfis and halvas all cooked in homemade fresh pure desi ghee. The beautiful ambience with mosaic tiled glasswork, huge paintings depicting mosques and bright curtains with the air conditioned breeze serve as icing on the cake.

This place is iconic in the area and they are well known for their Ramadan delicacies. Their service is little slow but the ambience and locality are good and the food is, of course,the main highlight.

It is a family restaurant serving yummiest Mughlai food to satisfy your taste buds. It is one of the people's favourite and desirable restaurant during Ramadan, as a result, a minimum waiting span of 1 hour is to be expected. The restaurant doesn't offer any great ambience just some red sofas and ample lighting but the food they serve has no match. From the yummiest chicken coated with dry noodles to the Nalli nihari being the most famous. It also offers delicious soups and sizzlers.The advice would be to go in larger groups so that you get to taste the maximum dishes at once that too very pocket-friendly prices.
