Bengalis are known to have a sweet tooth. You will rarely find a bengali who doesn't love sweets and its a sin if you visit Kolkata and do not try these 7 "must have" mishtis..
1. Rosolgolla- The most popular and the most delicious! Made from chhana, these soft round white balls melts as soon as you put them in your mouth. Often, during winters you will come across its variant "nolen gurer rosogolla", made from gur (boiling sugarcane juice). Another popular variant of the rosogollas are the Raj Bhog.
2. Mishti doi- A particular type of sweetened yogurt found only in West Bengal. These days, popular dairy brands are trying to make packaged mishti doi, but rarely have they been able to emulate them.
3.Joynagarer Moya- Available only during the winters, it is made up of date palm jaggery and puffed rice. It is found in the Joynagar district of West Bengal.
4.Shita Bhog- Sweetened rice served with small gulab Jamuns! Yummy it is!
5.Chhanar Jilipi- Heard of jalebis? Thiss too, is also a jalebi, only difference is that it is made up of paneer, maida and khoya.
6.Darbesh- These are ladoos made with sweetened boondi.
7.Sondesh- Made with milk and sugar, this mishti is available in all local sweet shops.
