Sikkim is situated in the foothills of The Himalayas and especially of the Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is bordered by Bhutan, Tibet, China and Nepal and thus reflects a mixed culture of all it's neighbors. NATHULA PASS Sikkim

NATHULA PASS

It is a Himalayan pass connecting Sikkim with China and Tibet. This place was linked with the ancient silk route. The Nathula highway is one of the most beautiful highways of the world. You can spot a memorial constructed here in the honor of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-China war. Here you can find a no mans land and can see Chinese soldiers on the other side of the fenced border. Foreign tourists are not allowed here and Indians also need a permit letter to visit this place.

LACHEN Sikkim

LACHEN

It is a beautiful hill station and famous for the Lachung monastery. It offers you various adventurous sports like trekking, snorkeling, rafting etc. If you are a Hindu or a Buddhists you can visit the Gurudongmar Lake which is open to only them. If you visit Lachen in the summers, you can even enjoy the annual Yak race, Thangu. Nature lovers can visit the Singba Rhododendron sanctuary to sight the beauty of the colorful atmosphere. This place also offers a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains and lush green vegetation all around.

Tsongmo Lake Sikkim

TSOMGO LAKE

It is a glacial oval shaped lake situated on an ancient trade route. It is considered sacred by the locals and is a shelter for the Brahminy ducks and the Red Pandas. This lake is itself very creative, sparkling different colors and textures seasonally, covered by floral blooms in the spring and frozen during the winters. Tourists can enjoy rides on decorated yaks here and get some cool pictures clicked.

Namchi Sikkim

NAMCHI

Namchi is famous for the Namchi and the Ralang monasteries. It offers a beautiful view of the Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is a famous pilgrimage center and has the Shirdi Saibaba Mandir and the Siddhesvara Dhaam having an 87 ft statue of Lord Shiva and replicas of the four Dhaams. It hosts a flower show with the exotic orchids displayed and tourists can also visit the rock garden here. The Temi tea garden in Namchi is famous for producing the finest quality of tea.

Zuluk Sikkim

ZULUK

It is a small hilly village with zigzag roads. The landscape view of the sunrise and the sunset in the Himalayas from here is mesmerizing. Zuluk looks beautiful during the springs, covered with Rhododendron flowers all around. It also offers a panoramic view of the snow-covered the Himalayas.

Rumtek Monastery Sikkim

RUMTEK MONASTERY

It is one of the largest monasteries in Sikkim and is known as Dharma Chakra center. It has a beautiful shrine temple and a monastery for the monks. It is an example of the finest architecture in the world and has some of the rarest Buddhists religious artworks. It has some of the precious stuff with rubies, gold and diamonds so the cameras are restricted here for obvious reasons.

Pelling Sikkim

PELLING

This town gives you the closest view to the worlds third highest peak, the Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is sandwiched between the two monasteries, the Pemayangtse monastery and the Sanga Choeling monastery. You can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, waterfalls along the hillsides especially Rimbi, the Kanchenjunga falls and can also take village and nature tours. Not only this, you can also experience the peace of meditation and bird watching here.
